Desde el color y lo femenino
Propuesta expositiva que, a modo de retrospectiva, presenta una serie de obras seleccionadas de los proyectos desarrollados más significativos a lo largo de la trayectoria de la artista peruana Katia Muñoz. Esta exhibición está dividida en dos partes, mostrando la versatilidad multidisciplinar de la artista. La pintura, la fotografía, el mail art, el ensamblaje y las instalaciones artísticas son varias de las disciplinas con las que ha participado en numerosas exposiciones internacionalmente.
En una primera parte, la pintura es la protagonista, ABSTRACT THINKING es donde explora su imaginario personal, su lado más emocional abstracto. Ha creado una cosmovisión donde su búsqueda está centrada en el encuentro de la materia y el color. Diálogos donde los espacios surgen del deseo de un hogar primordial y el color desde una necesidad interior. Durante muchos años, radicando en Lima, se dedicó, además de la pintura, a la fotografía analógica en blanco y negro, disfrutando sobre todo del trabajo de laboratorio. En esta faceta trabajó los temas de identidad femenina con varios enfoques, como sus raíces, el entorno, la violencia y la cotidianidad.
Es así, que la segunda parte, EUROPA – UNA PROMESA está centrada en la propuesta trabajada para la exposición LATIN AMERICAN PERSPECTIVES-EUROPÄISCHEN KULTURTAGE 2021 en Alemania, invitada por la galería Gedok. Una serie de fotografías, objetos y ensamblajes que buscan mostrar nuevas perspectivas de ver y sentir “La Europa de hoy y las nuevas colonialidades” desde su percepción de mujer latinoamericana viviendo en Barcelona.
La matriz colonial de poder fue construida en el proceso de conquista y colonización, pero lamentablemente actualmente persisten las vertientes rectoras como el patriarcado y el racismo. La artista menciona que ha experimentado y ha crecido en “La Colonialidad”, esa cara oculta y oscura de la modernidad. El arte puede ser un medio para expresar y dar alternativas de sanación, el pensar, el hacer y el ser “des colonial” podrían abrir nuevos horizontes no capitalistas que nos desvinculen como sociedad de la idea de que existe una modernidad única. La interculturalidad contribuye a una descolonización verdadera y profunda.
Es desde esta premisa de diálogo, integración y convivencia que como artista pretende mostrar a través de sus obras sus propios procesos de colonialidad y descolonialidad, mientras vivía en Perú y mientras vive en el “viejo continente”.

Exhibition proposal that, as a retrospective, presents a series of works selected from the most significant projects developed throughout the career of the Peruvian artist Katia Muñoz. This exhibition is divided into two parts, showing the multidisciplinary versatility of the artist. Painting, photography, mail art, assemblage and artistic installations are several of the disciplines with which she has participated in numerous exhibitions internationally.
In the first part, painting is the protagonist, ABSTRACT THINKING is where she explores her personal imaginary, her most emotional abstract side. She has created a worldview where her search is centered on the encounter of matter and color. Dialogues where spaces arise from the desire for a primordial home and color from an inner need. For many years, living in Lima, she dedicated, in addition to painting, to analog black and white photography, enjoying above all laboratory work. In this facet she worked on the themes of female identity with several approaches, such as her roots, the environment, violence and everyday life.
Thus, the second part, EUROPE – A PROMISE is focused on the proposal worked for the exhibition LATIN AMERICAN PERSPECTIVES-EUROPÄISCHEN KULTURTAGE 2021 in Germany, invited by the Gedok gallery. A series of photographs, objects and assemblages that seek to show new perspectives of seeing and feeling «The Europe of today and the new colonialities» from her perception of a Latin American woman living in Barcelona.
The colonial matrix of power was built in the process of conquest and colonization, but unfortunately currently the guiding aspects such as patriarchy and racism persist. The artist mentions that she has experienced and grown in «Coloniality», that hidden and dark face of modernity. Art can be a means to express and give healing alternatives, thinking, doing and being «decolonial» could open new non-capitalist horizons that disconnect us as a society from the idea that there is a unique modernity. Interculturality contributes to a true and profound decolonization.
It is from this premise of dialogue, integration and coexistence that as an artist she intends to show through her works, her own processes of coloniality and decoloniality while living in Peru and while living in the «old continent» today.
